Go To Top Of PageCreating a Hyperlink in your message

You can easily add a hyperlink to your message.

All that you need to do is type the URL (http://www.thiswebsitestinks.com/apb/), and it will automatically be converted to a URL (http://www.thiswebsitestinks.com/apb/)!

The trick here is to make sure you prefix your URL with the http://, https:// or file://

You can also add a mailto link to your message by typing in your e-mail address.

This Example:
lehecka@thiswebsitestinks.com
Outputs this:
lehecka@thiswebsitestinks.com

Another way to add hyperlinks is to use the [url]linkto[/url] tags

This Example:
[url]http://www.thiswebsitestinks.com/apb/[/url] takes you home!
Outputs This:
http://www.thiswebsitestinks.com/apb/ takes you home!

If you use this tag: [url="linkto"]description[/url] you can add a description to the link.

This Example:
Take me to [url="http://www.thiswebsitestinks.com/apb/"]Andy Polley's Happy Fun Time Message Board Extravaganza![/url]
Outputs This:
Take me to Andy Polley's Happy Fun Time Message Board Extravaganza!
This Example:
If you have a question [url="lehecka@thiswebsitestinks.com"]E-Mail Me[/url]
Outputs This:
If you have a question E-Mail Me

You can make clickable images by combining the [url="linkto"]description[/url] and [img]image_url[/img] tags
This Example:
[url="http://www.thiswebsitestinks.com/apb/"][img]bb_logo_5.gif[/img][/url]
Outputs This:

Go To Top Of PageCan I be notified by e-mail when there are new posts?

Yes, the Subscription feature allows you to subscribe to the entire Board, individual Categories, Forums and/or Topics, depending on what the administrator of this site allows. You will receive an e-mail notifying you of a post that has been made to the Category/Forum/Topic that you have subscribed to. There are four levels of subscription:

- Board Wide Subscription
If you can subscribe to an entire Board, you'll get a notification for any posts made within all the forums inside that board.

- Category Wide Subscription
You can subscribe to an entire Category, which will notify you if there was any posts made within any topic, within any forum, within that Category.

- Forum Wide Subscription
If you don't want to subscribe to an entire Category, you can subscribe to a single forum. This will notify you of any posts made within any topic, within that forum.

- Topic Wide Subscription
More conveniently, you can subscribe to just an individual topic. You will be notified of any post made within that topic.
Each level of subscription is optional. The administrator can turn On/Off each level of subscription for each Category/Forum/Topic.
To Subscribe or Unsubscribe from any level of subscription, you can use the "My Subscriptions" link, located near the top of each page to manage your subscriptions. Or you can click on the subscribe/unsubscribe icons (Subscribe UnSubscribe) for that Category/Forum/Topic you want to subscribe/unsubscribe to/from.

Go To Top Of PageWhat is COPPA?

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act and Rule apply to individually identifiable information about a child that is collected online, such as full name, home address, e-mail address, telephone number or any other information that would allow someone to identify or contact the child. The Act and Rule also cover other types of information -- for example, hobbies, interests and information collected through cookies or other types of tracking mechanisms -- when they are tied to individually identifiable information. More information can be found here.

Is there an archive available of the TK show?

This Website Stinks doesn't host an archive of the show, but I can say that Alan_in_Chattanooga's profile can be elightening to some...

Am I allowed to push my product or group on this board?

Unless approved by the board administrators, solicitation of goods or services of any kind is not permitted on the board. This is done for the protection of all involved. If a solicitation is approved, it will be placed in the Off-Topic forum only.

Why are some poster's names in different colors?

The colors are to denote administrators and/or moderators on the board. Posters in red are board administrators. If you have any questions about your posting experience, please forward your queries to them. These members have the power to edit or modify posts and, if necessary, ban members of the board (if deserved. See Posting Guidelines in the Show Forum and the Off Topic Forum). Posters in blue are moderators. They have certain administrative powers in forums assigned to them.

What does it mean to have "Good Posting Habits?"

UPDATED: 8/24/2005

  • Questionable language is accepted (e.g. the seven dirty words), but unprovoked abuse is not. Consistent posting that is abusive to members of the Message Board will warrant a ban. You may tease other members, but attacking and harrassing other members of this board unprovoked is not tolerated.

Additionally, images (both in posts and in avatars) and videos of nudity, mutilation, and pictures deemed in bad taste can be posted, but only as a hyperlink and denoted NSFW (Not Safe For Work). Please be mindful of the other posters on the board and their sensibilities.

  • When replying to a post, please only quote the relevant information. If you end up with a quote 5 levels deep, but you're only responding to the latest post, please edit your post to have the relevant post you are responding to. This will help keep the DB size down and prevent future DB meltdowns. The DB has been updated now and is more reliable, but precautionary measures are prudent.

  • It is suggested that topics not brought up on the show that are highly explosive (Religion, Politics, etc.) be kept in the Off-Topic Forum. If TK brings up a political issue on the show, however, it is free reign to discuss in the Show Discussion thread, but excessive political debate that leads to verbal abuse will not be tolerated.

  • Speaking of the Show Discussion Threads, when there is a current day's thread, please keep show discussion and any topics brought up in said thread in that day's thread. Please do not resurrect older Show Discussion Threads. Any older Show Discussion Threads reopened when the current one is running will be automatically locked.

New threads based on topics from the Show Discussion thread are encouraged if a topic that's brought up in the show discussion thread warrants its own thread.

  • If a member's sole purpose is to disrupt the flow of conversation on the board and not add to the current conversation, a ban would be warranted at the discretion of the board administrators.
